I first became interested in herbs as a young teenager when an adult friend gave me a tour of her garden and let me sample the herbs she was growing. I still recall the intense aroma of Feverfew. It was love at first sniff! She sent me home with plants to start in my own garden and herbs became a permanent part of my life. Plants and animals have evolved alongside each other. Plants were here on the planet first and have helped every species survive. Tapping into that huge wisdom and reservoir of help is what herbalism is all about. Horses, especially, are true herbalists. In a pasture with a few “weeds” such as dandelion and yarrow, horses will selectively choose what they need. My early observations of horses choosing specific plants began my education in herbalism. Since then I’ve taken classes, attended conferences and done hours upon hours of reading. The sanctuary horses I’ve rehabilitated have been my best teachers when it comes to herbal treatment. I’ve developed formulations for horses with a wide variety of issues and each formulation I create is certified organic and created specifically for that animal. The one-size-fits-all approach to herbalism is fine for the big companies but I prefer to match the herbs with the specific needs and constitution of each horse. My formulations change as the needs of the horse change.

Infused Oils
We start with base oils such as Grapeseed, Olive and Vitamin E oil in which we “soak” or “infuse” dried herbs. The herbs are strained out and what remains is a golden, vibrant oil. Note: some of our infused oils contain a trace amount of alcohol which is used in the extraction process and gives the oils a longer shelf life. For external use only.
Solomon’s Seal Root Oil

2 oz. – $25.00
This root has deep-reaching effects on tendons, ligaments and fascial tissue. It encourages the body to restore natural moisture to these tissues which tend to become dried out after injury and over-use. It is mildly warming and is best used twice daily on chronically sore, achy and arthritic spots. Human and horse use.
Lobelia Oil
2 oz. – $25.00

Traditionally lobelia is used to relax muscle spasms. This deep-reaching oil can help relax tight, cramping muscles. Human use only.
Blissful Skin Balm
3 oz bar – $9.99
Soothing oils and a touch of beeswax make this body bar great for dry skin especially in winter. It absorbs readily and protects your skin from the elements. Can also be used on dry, cracked skin and old scars on horses. Human and horse use.
